Historic Stanford House

April 9, 2024 By Rob Pohl

In the fall of 2023, Vintage Building & Restoration was awarded a roofing project for the Historic Stanford House at Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio. We removed the existing cedar shingles and applied skip sheathing before reroofing the house and outbuildings with Alaskan Yellow Cedar shingles.

The George Stanford House is located 6093 Stanford Road, Peninsula, OH 44264, in Cuyahoga Valley National Park It enjoys a view of the Cuyahoga River and the adjacent Ohio & Erie Canal. James Stanford settled the property in 1806, and served in several township offices. He was a member of the original surveyors of Boston Township before deciding to move his family to the area. James’ son George Stanford built the large farmhouse that still stands today.
